The EMBO Practical Course will not be a ‘classical’ bioinformatics course, but it will focus on the business development and resource and data management aspects of running a core facility. It will have a high proportion of practical content in which participants solve problems relevant to their own core facility. T he Bioinformatics Core Facility (BCF) primarily provides computational support for investigators at UT Health San Antonio but also provides services to administrative and departmental offices on campus. The BCF supports a wide range of scientific applications, software packages, and computing platforms, with an emphasis on Unix/Linux/X11 architectures. 2020-08-10 The Bioinformatics Core has substantial expertise in developing custom software and workflows for sequence data analysis. Software development, however, is often a time consuming process and thus the facility is forced to carefully evaluate the feasibility of proposed projects. Bioinformatics and Systems Biology Core is designed to support and streamline multidisciplinary collaborative research in biomedical and health informatics.
